CPL has an urgent need for host homes. A "host home" is a general term that encompasses individuals, couples and families who are willing to provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You can make a real difference to an individual in need of this safe and loving home. Consider sharing your love and support by becoming a host home.
Becoming a Host Home
If you are interested in becoming a host home, our outreach coordinator is eager to work with you. We provide training and ongoing support throughout the home study process and after an individual is placed into your home.
To Become a Host Home - YOU MUST:
- Be age 21 or older.
- Have a bedroom available for the person you will care for.
- Complete a registration form and authorization form to undergo a background check.
- Obtain certifications in both CPR and First Aid.
- Complete the home study approval process.
You May Not Qualify to Be a Host Home If:
- Anyone in your house has been involved with child or adult protective services in the past.
- The primary Care Provider was arrested for a DUI or DWI within the last 2 years.
- Anyone in the household was convicted of a felony or drug-related offense within the last 3 years.
- You live in a one-bedroom apartment or home.
- You are currently licensed or certified by another agency
- Are a family member (other than a sibling) of the person to be cared for.
